Education –School District RE-5J services Johnstown and Milliken, where there are two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The student to teacher ratio in School District RE-5J is 15:1 and the average ACT score is 21.3. Higher education options are ample in Northern Colorado, including the University of Northern Colorado, Aims Community College (both in Greeley) and Colorado State University and Rocky Mountain Community College (in Ft. Collins).

Recreation - There are two parks in Milliken and one in Johnstown. Both communities offer a variety of recreational opportunities for it’s young residents, such as Little League football and youth league basketball and baseball. And, like the rest of the region, the proximity to the Rocky Mountains offers endless outdoor adventure activities – including skiing, hiking, fishing, and boating – for the residents of Johnstown and Milliken.

Health Care - Being located near both Ft. Collins and Greeley offers residents of Johnstown and Milliken the advantage of choice in health care. Both North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley and Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins are excellent facilities.

Employment - Johnstown and Milliken are surrounded by abundant farmland, which provides the area’s largest source of income. Golden Tech is a manufacturer of corn starch and syrup and Uniscope, a producer of specialty agricultural products are located in Johnstown. However, given the low housing prices (around $150,000 average for single family homes), bucolic and friendly setting, many settle here but commute to the larger surrounding communities such as Greeley and Loveland for work.
